We are going on a pilgrimage to Rome, the Via Francigena. During our 250-mile walk, we will be praying daily for everyone on our prayer list at a church or holy site. We have room in our backpacks for more requests. Use our form to submit a request.
Why ask someone else to pray for you?
Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst.”
Having more than one person praying amplifies the effectiveness of the prayer.
How does this work?
We bring a list of prayers with us on the pilgrimage and each day at a holy site, usually a church, we quietly pray for your intentions. Of course we only use first names as we pray, which is OK because God knows who you are.
What are some examples of where you prayed?
At Fatima in Portugal, where the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children, we quietly prayed for all the intentions in the Basilica between Masses.
We prayed for everyone in the Cathedral at Santiago de Compostela, Spain, right at the tomb of the apostle St. James the Greater (the destination of the Camino de Santiago).
Lourdes, France is another site where the Virgin Mary appeared, this time to St. Bernadette, and we prayed there. Then we added our physical prayer list to a prayer box filled with requests of the other pilgrims. These prayers were further amplified during the candle-lit procession where thousands of people prayed for each other’s intentions.
And in Canterbury, UK, which is the starting point of the Via Francigena, we prayed. The Canterbury Cathedral is where St. Thomas Becket was murdered by the King of England’s knights.
Inspired by hearing the story and how the hallowed ground where St. Thomas Becket bled had caused many miracles of healing, we knelt down right at that site and prayed for all the intentions.
Why do you pray at holy sites?
We believe in the communion of saints, and that the saints in heaven can intercede on our behalf to ask God for our wants and needs. Places associated with saints are often where healings and miracles have occurred.
Traveling to holy sites to pray has been part of the Christian tradition since Jesus walked on Earth.
What do people ask you to pray for?
People ask for physical and spiritual healing, direction in life, for success, forgiveness, courage, for a return to the faith, or any of the above for themselves or a loved one. It can be a detailed or a general request, or simply someone’s name, living or dead.
Some even just say, “for a private intention”, which is fine because God knows what is in their heart.
